Klinsmann, who is trying to win the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup, arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the site of the off-season training.
The Korea Football Association announced on the 3rd, “The main team of the Korean national soccer team arrived in the UAE on this day.”
At 5 p.m. on the previous day (2nd), the national team, led by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, held an opening ceremony and flew to the UAE at 11:40 p.m.
As the last mock test for the Asian Cup, Klinsmann will play Iraq at 10 p.m. on the 6th at the Abu Dhabi Stadium of New York University in the UAE. The match was held to prepare for the match against the Middle Eastern team to face at the Asian Cup.
After the quenching in Abu Dhabi, the Klinsmann will enter Qatar, the site of the showdown, on the 10th.
Earlier, some overseas players, including domestic players and Cho Kyu-sung (Mit Whelan), began preparing in advance for indoor training at a hotel in downtown Seoul from the 26th of last month.
Most overseas players, including Son Heung-min (Tottenham) and Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton), will join the team.
Only Lee Kang-in will join the team late. He will play until the Trope de Champaign (Super Cup) final against Toulouse on Saturday and will return to the national team. The Asian Cup will feature 24 countries and will be played in six groups. The 12 countries ranking first and second in their respective groups will advance to the round of 16. In addition, the top four teams among the third-ranked teams in the group will also win tickets to the round of 16.
On Jan. 15, Korea will face Bahrain in their first Group E match at Jasim bin Hamad Stadium. They will then face Jordan at AltuMama Stadium on Jan. 20, and meet Malaysia under the leadership of Kim Pan-gon at Al-Zanub Stadium on Jan. 25.
If South Korea tops Group E, its opponent in the round of 16 will be second in Group D. It is one of Japan, Indonesia, Iraq and Vietnam. If it finishes second in the group, it will face the top of Group F, which includes Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Oman.
