Toronto pitcher Greene hit in the head by catcher’s throw in minor leagues

Toronto Blue Jays bullpen pitcher Chad Green (32), who is undergoing rehabilitation, has been delayed for an absurd reason.

Green was hit in the back of the head by a catcher’s throw to second base during a minor league rehab game and was sidelined for a week due to a concussion risk.

Green was injured in an away game against the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox (under the Boston Red Sox) in the Minor League held at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts on the 9th (Korean time).

Green, who came to the mound as the fourth pitcher for the Toronto-affiliated Buffalo Bisons, was hit in the back of the head by a ball thrown by catcher Tyler Heineman to catch the runner on first base who was running for second base in the bottom of the fifth inning with two out and first base with the score trailing 1-6.

Fortunately, Green did not collapse. He did not show any problems, such as talking naturally with the training coach on the mound.

However, in order to protect the player, Green decided to take a break for the next week. It is a measure according to the ‘concussion protocol’.

MLB and the players’ union introduced a system to protect players suspected of concussion in 2011, and allowed them to take a break for a week regardless of the player’s doctor.

Canadian media Sportsnet reported on the 10th, “Green entered the concussion protocol,” and “he will be able to play in a week only when the medical team’s accurate diagnosis comes out.”메이저놀이터

Green underwent elbow ligament splicing surgery in June of last year while playing for the New York Yankees.

Green was doing his last checkup in the minor leagues ahead of his return to the big leagues.

He made a big success in 2021 with 10 wins, 7 losses, 18 holds, 6 saves, and an average ERA of 3.12. Last season, he went 1 win, 1 loss, 3 holds, 1 save, and an average ERA of 3.00.
