SON trademark spreads to rivals…Arsenal FW performs ‘click ceremony’ in training

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min’s ‘snap’ has spread to a rival club.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah posted a photo on social media on Thursday (Aug. 24) of himself training on the pitch. The Gunners return to action after the November A-match break with an away game against Brentford in the 13th round of the 2023/24 Premier League on May 26.

Nketiah, a 1999-born English striker who came through the Arsenal youth ranks third on the team’s scoring list with five goals this season. He notably scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United in Round 10, netting three goals in a 5-0 thrashing.

After being rested during the A-Match due to not being called up to the national team, Nketiah has been working hard on the training ground to resume his season. It was during this time that he turned heads on the pitch by performing one of his trademark flicks.

Since 2020, the South Korean national soccer team and Tottenham captain has been performing the “Click Serenity” gesture, which involves making a square with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands to take a photo after every goal he scores. This unique gesture has now become a trademark goal celebration. 무지개토토

In an interview with Sky Sports in the UK in 2021, Heung-min explained how he came up with the gesture: “I was thinking about a special gesture a year ago,” he said, “Scoring a goal is a great memory. I wanted to keep it in my heart, so I came up with the ‘camera’ gesture.”

The gesture has become popular among soccer players, with some Tottenham players standing on the sidelines whenever Son scores a goal and attempting to do the same.

Recently, a Tottenham prospect made headlines for doing the same. Mikey Moore, a 2007-born winger who is regarded as one of the top prospects in the Spurs organization, was called up to the England U-17 squad during the November A-match and scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Croatia in a UEFA U-17 Championship qualifier. It was during this time that he performed the ‘clicker’ after scoring.
